A Chooseday with Little Choice …

… and Woeful Whensday.

Though neither mare nor stallion spat,
In horse-spittle is where I’m at;
Appropriately, this time, too,
I can enjoy a BACK-side view,

View inland from my ward.

The place, though, faces up quite well

View in other direction from front over harbour to sea.

In features of five-star hotel;

My chosen breakfast from a good selection.

The op, for Monday morning set,
Till afternoon, was not done yet,
But now my spine biopsy done,
And, also, bone built up in one
Of vertebrae, which with some verve
Had been impinging on the nerve;
All Tuesday I still had to stay,

And Wend-sday wend my homeward way,
For still more tests to see just where
The places are that need more care:
Where bad stuff’s spread, and where should go
Some well-directed radio
Which, hope the station sent at bod,
Is classical rather than mod!
From Wednesday announcing more —
One hopes it is a healthy score.

Now notified more tests to run —
For problems, there are more than one!
And I, to say, this now have got:
A blinking spot of bother, what?

    Our difficulties almost fake.
    Just taking one day at a time
    And trusting it will turn out fine
    Each mountain climbed
    Each problem solved
    Each battle won,
    As we get old
    Raises the spirits,
    Means we tend
    To go on fighting
    To the end.

      Everyone’s problems can have equal magnitude, to them, and very often something one would infinitely prefer not to happen is around the corner for every one of us. As you say, a day at a time is the way to go, and always finding ways to continue having fun.

  6. This is a jolly good poem but it does sound rather dismal. I hope all goes well with your further test results.

  8. Oh dear! It never rains but it pours. Sorry about your troubles, Col. How is MBH holding up with the other disasters on the homefront? Glad your cat turned again and came home. Lots of good wishes flying across the miles to you, Chin up. 🙂

    I confess I’m still looking at your breakfast photo. I didn’t know what the white thing was. Now I know: its yogurt. I hope you feel better now.

    A stiff upper lip is the usual call, I think,
    I’m guessing you’d much prefer a very stiff drink.
    Probably a double, maybe over ice,
    Perhaps a G & T or a scotch would be nice?

    Thoughts of you I’ll be having, when I raise my glass,
    A smile and a nod and a let’s get it sorted out fast.

    Well, I had to look twice at your breakfast tray. At first glance I spied a bottle and next thought was.. Well, I’m not surprised they’re keeping him in!!! 😂
    Hope you’re feeling a little better Les.
