Top of Top 8 in Under 8

An event this evening filled us with pride and joy.

As part of the Swimming Squad, selected from the top eight swimmers in each age group, Jeneva was entered in the annual Junior Top 8 Championship Gala in all four strokes: Freestyle, Butterfly, Backstroke and Breaststroke. We had high hopes of her doing well, but were resigned to the fact that at best she would probably come second to her arch-rival who took the honours last year.

Jeneva (arrowed) has a good lead in the first Freestyle Race.

And again in breaststroke, although being pushed a bit by her rival.

Lo and behold: in spite of a couple of iffy starts she forged ahead convincingly to win every single race! She was over the moon with her medal, and so were we. I am hoping that her podium pictures will be put up on the Gallery so that I can snatch them.

She has another gala, at a rival school, on Thursday, and her Swimming School Gala on Saturday. We are going to be gala-ed out!
