Seriously Sensible Flutters.

GloMoWriMo 2019 Day 25
‘And now for today’s prompt I’d like to challenge you to write a poem that:
Is specific to a season
Uses imagery that relates to all five senses (sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell)
Includes a rhetorical question.’
I decided to make it something epic and serious, but from the minute it wandered into Alice in Wonderland territory it was doomed.

How doth the little butterfly
Delight to snarl and bite,
And snatch birds daily from the sky
To scoff them up each night?

And does it not in spring appear,
To add to the delight,
When everything is fresh and clear
And prey will taste just right?

How thrilling is the buzz-saw sound
It makes while in its flight,
And don’t you love, when outward bound,
That blurry, speedy sight?

Is it not fun to see it latch
Onto the smell of prey,
And, touching, is the instant match
That it puts on display?

Does not it love the taste found here
In newly mowed-down dogs
Devoured in the atmosphere
Of early evening fogs?

Do not such lepidoptera
With awe and wonder fill —?
What’s that? The very thought so far
Just serves to make you ill?
