After two of the most delightful days imaginable, weather wise, things turned mean today just because we had two outdoor events following one after the other. In the morning we were up early to an overcast day with a gale blowing and went to a school as the venue of the party of the younger sister of one of Jeneva’s classmates/friends to help set it up. The mother had gone to endless trouble to make it a success, and despite being out in the open it certainly was that. Rhiannon contributed by teaching some of the kids to ride her hoverboard.
We had barely arrived home, though, when it was time to go to a nursery/restaurant where the Durban House and Garden Plant Club had booked me as speaker. Again, the venue was outdoor. My topics were a brief history of Durban and Coast Horticultural Society (as current Chairman thereof) from the date of inauguration in 1903 to the future as a first segment, with a discussion on books and local publishing as a second more informal one after tea. I received an enthusiastic response to both and participation for the second, and my most honest critic (Much Better Half) said they had gone well.
It was lovely, later on in the afternoon, to get out of the weather, though! I intend wearing a beanie to bed to prevent brain-freeze . . .
Nothing makes a day like swinging high. ( and talking about topics you like with people who want to hear what you have to say.)

I did have a gratifying response.

is riding a hoverboard similar to needing to know how to skateboard or something first or can you just get on? scared just thinking about it but then again I would not have swung so high on the swing either

It needs a similar amount of practice and good balance to skateboarding; movement and turning are achieved by ankle movement and weight distribution — quite tricky.

Both events sound lovely, despite the weather. It is freezing in Joburg today too.

Yep … the barometer fell through the perishing floor yesterday, and it’s going to get colder.
Glad to read there is still activity publishing wise.
