Dear followers of my dad, Les Noble’s, blog.
It is with great sadness that I have to inform you of Les’ untimely passing on the 13th March after a supremely courageous battle with cancer. He was ill for some time, but nothing totally prepares you for the finality of death and we are struggling to come to terms with his loss. We couldn’t have asked for a more devoted husband, father and grandfather as I’m sure you’ve all witnessed from his regular posts on the achievements of his family. He derived so much pleasure from his Blog and all the wonderful people he corresponded with on it. Thank you all so much for your supportive comments and encouragement – sending off his regular posts was definitely his ”happy place” and one of the few things he could still do right at the end. He’s left us with such a wonderful legacy of amazing novels and beautiful compositions – he will surely remain in our hearts forever.

Oh no… I haven’t looked at my blog for so long. I’m so utterly devastated to read this! Les, thank you for your guidance which I will never forget! Heaven has gained a wonderful man who will add to its beauty. Sincere belated condolences to the family. God bless you.

When I sat down to write today, after years absence due to health, my fear was some friends will have passed. Colonialist posted concern on my wall back in 2019. He must have been ill himself at the time.
Now that I am back I will miss his blogs. I am sorry for your loss.

Dear Col’s family,
My heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences on your sad and traumatic loss. May the memories you made together help to comfort you always. (I’m sorry this is so late, but I’ve been out of commission for a long while and am shocked at the sad news).
He was a special presence in the early blogging years of Letterdash, before and beyond and I so enjoyed interacting with him and buying his books for my grandchildren. I’m sad for you all. May he rest in peace. It was an honour to know him.

Dear Robyn. My warmest sympathies to you and all your family. I’d learnt of your Dad’s passing through Arkhenaten, another blogger. I was and remain in deep shock. I knew he was ill but hoped he’d pull thorugh. Sadly not.
Your father was a wonderful man. A dry sense of humour. And impeccable wit. Awful rhyme which sometimes inspired me a back and forth of (even worse) rhymes.
I loved the way he took care of his granddaughters who must be devastated.
I sometimes put up a post and wonder how he would have reacted… 😉
I do miss the joy he gave us all. Very sorry for your loss.

Oh my Robyn and family and I am so genuinely sad to read this, Les was absolutely lovely to me and I will miss him. He was so supportive and caring and helped me immensely with my grammar and how to precis my biography.

I’m so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. He was a constant in my life through my many global moves from India to Thailand to Germany to England and even Tanzania! I will sorely miss him but I’m happy to know that his words will live on, and bring us joy for years to come. My condolences to you and your family. ❤

I will miss his obsessive and hilarious wordplay, and will esteem more than ever his comments at my blog, where he was a welcome reader. Condolences to all his loved ones.

Robyn, I am very sad. I knew your father simply as Col: author, poet, punster, musician and composer. With a razor-sharp intellect, you could always rely on him for some cracking wordplay in any discussion. He was strong, opinionated and full of integrity, a waterfall of creativity and I shall miss him sorely. All the best to you all: we will meet again someday.

Dear Robyn, your dad was a wonderful character. We met a few times and I remember how he made me laugh out loud. He was such a wordsmith and could out-pun anyone, I’m sure. His love for and dedication to his family shone through his blog posts for all to see. He will be greatly missed by me and I know that you must all be so devastated by your great loss. Robyn, Thank you so much for posting your very sad news.
I contacted Les a couple of weeks ago and after not receiving a reply I feared the worst.
I am so, so sorry to hear this.
I remember clearly when his illness began and those very first tests, we both had back ache at the same time and compared our aches and pains, very often on my own blog he kept me up-to-date.
I know how much you will all miss him, he was your much loved rock.

His has been a unique voice and viewpoint, quirky and opinionated at times, true, but also witty, engaging and incisive and clearly a proud family man. Les will indeed be missed here.

Thank you so much for this, Robyn. We watched his struggle from our New Forest which of course he knew well. I was only a day or two ago commenting on how important it is for us to know when our blogging friends disappear for this reason. Naturally we have followed the success of granddaughters. Are you the daughter who lives over here?

I am a distant online discoverer, and heard his courage as he posted his ‘adventures’ in hospital appointments and other things in which he delighted. I think he will have passed that courage on to you all who will miss him. My sympathy at this time.
