Really Awful Blows.

AW-GUST! is known for a bit of a blow
And today offered more than a bit:
Various different ways it would show.
But first by a rain-squall got hit.

And strange straight white rows we observed on the sea,
I dashed through the rain to the deck –
Binoculars quickly revealed them to be
Some breaker-lines, massive as heck!

August Breakers

Then fixing of windows in our upper flat
Presented a bit of a chore,
And moving of furniture: no doubt that that
Became quite considerably more.

And soon it was time to fetch J at her school,
A process which went fairly well,
But then to get R from the swimming-squad pool,
Ran late with a friend’s shopping spell.

Collected the R and delivered the goods –
The elderly friend was pleased, much –
I thought that for chores I was out of the woods,
And now could do blogging and such.

But, sadly, the next bit of news that I got
Was lights in our cottage were gone,
Including computer, so that was my lot
Unless I could get them back on.

I finally traced air-con plug on the wall
Had ever so thoroughly blown,
And welded itself in a nice metal ball –
To extract it gave many a groan.

If this is a sample of August, I pass –
Please send me the next month at speed;
September should offer some greener-type grass,
And more of the ‘me-time’ I need!
