REVISITS – Evil, Annie and Making a Splash

R & J and visiting dog at Swimming Prizegiving

If there is a dog or cat at a function like a prizegiving, be sure it will find R and J – or vice versa!  Not long after this dog had wandered in from somewhere, it had gravitated to the two of them.

I have been rather busy editing two most impressive books, both from authors way the other side of the Equator, and about which more will be heard anon.  Anyway, they both feature evil in large doses, which made me look again at my recent rhyme on the subject – while in editing mode.  Here follows an improved version with better rhyme and reason:

EVIL

 ‘Evil is as evil does’,
So ‘tis said;
What about an evil buzz
In one’s head?
Even if the action’s not
Carried through,
Still, in those who plot,  you’ve got
Someone who
Is as evil, every bit,
In the mind,
As ones who, to action it,
Are inclined;
They are no less guilty than
Those who dared,
When they have an evil plan,
But are scared;
Much the greater to be feared
Will be who
Are – not just to evil steered –
Cowards, too.

The next revisit arose from a worrying development with the health of Son-in-Law, who is currently in hospital in a lot of pain from clots in veins.  As a result, he was unable to go to ‘Annie’ last night with Younger Daughter and the two girls, so I stood in.   It was great:  I got to see the other ‘Annie’ actress and enjoyed her performance as much as I had the first.  The kids were entranced – even 3-yr-old J, who had been too excited to sleep in the afternoon, lasted out until well into the second half before she passed out!

AnnieThe picture shows both Annies, shots 3 and 4 in the second row.

Then, after the recent Swimming School prize-giving at which young R received ‘Most Promising Swimmer’ award as well as her 800 metre distance badge, I had occasion to look back at the sort of splash she has made in swimming so far.  She has certainly had consistent progress in her six years!

    Sorry to hear about son-in-law and best wishes for his speedy recovery. It sounds as if everyone had lots of fun at the play, and I see R is on her way of becoming the next champion swimmer for sure. Great shots! 😀

  11. Wow, congratulations to you star swimmer, Col. You’ll have to build a special room for all her trophies in a couple of years’ time, 🙂 Those two Annies look very alike. Best wishes to your Son-in-Law, for a speedy recovery. Your evil revisit is a definite improvement. Well done.

      Poor SiL is suffering in vein!
      The Annies are fairly different, actually, though the hair does serve to identify them clearly!

      This one did cost me more overheated braincells than I wanted to devote to it, I must admit. The last few lines would have driven me nuts if it were not for the fact that I’m that way already.

      Thanks – yes, the animals can tell that they are eager to pet them – gently!
      I am pretty sure that the books will be on Kindle as well as in print in due course. One joins the Vampire genre – but with a difference!
