‘Brilant’ is one of many thousands of words we have messed with. And think what is done to pronunciation with things like ‘Wipers’ for ‘Ypres’ or ‘Bewlee’ for ‘Beaulieu’. They get their own back with the ‘Rosbif’-type remarks, though.

WOW! Remember when Joubert Park was similarly beautified for Christmas? Also driving through the East Rand towns, Boksburg, Benoni and Brakpan, to see the Christmas lights….sigh.

The good old days, indeed. Some locals were inclined to lighten up for Xmas in past years; no more. So it was a real blast from the past to walk through that wonderful display.
